 Split PeaSoaking Methods: Soak peas overnight in 3 to 4 cups cold water. Drain and rinse peas.
Cooking Method: Rinse peas. In a 5 quart pot,combine the peas and flavor packet with 8 cups water then bring to a boil. Cover and boil until peas are tender. Add more water if necessary. At this time you may add pieces of ham if desired.
